Provenance: The makers records list rifle no. 7051 as being made as a breech loading hammerless ejector double rifle in .450 calibre. No date is recorded but the serial numbers either side date to October 1897 and September 1898.

The 'owner column' in the records simply states 'Sold Glasgow 15/11/10' suggesting the rifle may have been made for stock circa 1897 and subsequently sold through the Glasgow premises in 1910.

Literature: In Donald Dallas' definitive history of Alex Henry, 'ALEXANDER HENRY - RIFLE MAKER', he makes reference to the rarity of the lockplate engraving found on this rifle 'ALEXr. HENRY LTD.' - his research establishing that this precise wording was only used between 1895 and 1897.
